Maranburu is a Santhali Folk tale. In this story, let us learn about the Santhal Warriors who once lived in what is known today as Afghanistan. They did not believe in violence, but were more than capable of giving their enemies a tough fight. There was a period of time when bands of Turks would launch attacks on the Santhals repeatedly. Once, a large band of Turks attacked them, and it was becoming clear that the Santhals would lose the fight. The young leader of the Santhals called Somai called for a council of warriors, and asked them for advice. Salkhan, the youngest member of the council, wanted to fight till the end. Somai on the other hand wanted the tribe to leave to a safer place.
What happened to the Santhals? Did they leave for safer lands? Or did they meet their fate at the hands of the Turks? Listen to this story to learn more.
